Stepping Stones Of Godly

2 Peter 1: 3-11. "3His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

6and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. 8For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins.

What does it mean?
Faith: Believing in God to have your best interest in mind, and trusting that he will take care of your ever need!! A few good verses to go with that are - Hebrews 11: 1 and 11.Faith is believing that God CAN and WILL!!!Goodness: The action of doing good things, speaking good things and pleasing God by being benevolent!!! (Philippians 4: 8-9)Knowledge: Proverbs 1: 7 pretty much sums it up!! :) "The fear of the Lord is the beginning ofknowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction.!!" Don't be foolish, foolishness leads to destruction!!Self-control: The determination to do what’s right, be responsible and show integrity. Resisting my worldly desires. Galatians 5: 22-23 lists the fruits of the spirit, amongst witch is self control “and against such things there is no law!”Perseverance: Setting a goal and finishing it. Self-control + Faith = Perseverance. (James 1: 3-4)Godliness: Striving to attain the corrector of God. Living sensibly, righteously, and godly lives in the present age. (1 Timothy 6: 6, 11)Brotherly Kindness: It’s not what I can do, but what God can do through me to serve others with tenderness, compassion and Graciousness! Honoring another more then yourself. (Romans 12: 10) Devotion. Benevolence. (Ephesians 4: 31-32) Showing Love to your neighbors, (Matthew 22: 39) and those you do not like, or in other words…..your Enemies! (Matthew 5: 44) did you know that the Greek word for brotherly kindness is transliterated "philadelphia," it is made up of two words: "phileo" (love) and "adelphos" (brother). So it pretty much means “The love of brothers”!!! (2 Peter 1:3 - 11) Love: 1 Corinthians chapter 13 tells us exactly what love is. it is Patient, Kind, not Jealous or Boastful, not provoked and it never fails……just to name a few!!! ( 1 John 3: 16-18) My Dad says “Love is like football pants“ haha…… you haft to have it in order to hold all the other virtues!!!! So what that means is if your having a hard time with patients you need to work on your love! If you have a problem with selfishness you need to work on your Love! However you cant conjure up Godly love in yourself, it comes from abiding in Him, It comes from less of you and More of God in you life!!!

Perseverance: Setting a goal and finishing it. Self-control + Faith = Perseverance. (James 1: 3-4) that you may be perfect and complete, "lacking nothing."
Godliness: Striving to attain the corrector of God. Living sensibly, righteously, and holy lives in the present age. (1 Timothy 6: 6-8) godliness with contentment is "great gain."
