......Learning to See the Glories of Gods Love.
"The more I embrace and experience the gospel,
the more I delight in the worship of God,
the more expressive my joy in Him becomes,
and the more I yearn to glorify Him in all I say and do."
-Milton Vincent
We need the gospel every day!!! To keep us from falling into a performance relationship with God. There is a little book called "The gospel Primer" that has not only helped me to know the gospel, but also to love the gospel and see how it applies to every area of my life. I try to read it often, every morning (if I remember) thereby preaching the gospel to myself on a daily basis. I would like to share with you, a little bit of this "Gospel in-a-nut-shell"
"My God is immense beyond imagination. He measured the entire Universe with merely the span of His hand. (Isaiah 40:12)
He is unimaginably awesome on all of His perfections, absolutely righteous, holy, and just in all of his ways! (Deuteronomy 31:3-4)
He has also been unbelievably good and merciful to me as the creator and sustainer of my life. Every breath, every heartbeat, every function of every organ in my body is a gift from Him. Every legitimate pleasure I experience is a gift from His loving hand to me. (1 Tim. 6:17. Acts 14:1)
Yet I could not have failed this great God more miserably than I have. (Romans 1. Romans 3:23)
Instead of giving thanks to Him and humbly submitting to His rule over my life, I have rebelled against Him and have actually sought to exalt myself above Him.
Going my own way and living according to my own wisdom, I have broken countless times either the letter or spirit of every one of Gods Ten commandments. (Exodus 20. Coloss. 3:5. Matt. 5. 1 John 3:15)
Thinking myself to be wise, I have shown myself to be a fool; and because of my arrogance, God has every right to damn me to the everlasting experience of His terrifying wrath in the Lake of Fire. (Rom. 6:23. Rev. 21:8. Eph. 2:3)
However, what I could not do, God did -- and in doing it, He did it ALL, sending His own Son into the world to die on the cross for my sins, thereby showing me unfathomable love. (Romans 5.)
God loves me SO MUCH that He was willing to suffer the loss of His Son, and even more amazing, He was willing to allow His Son to suffer the loss of Him at the cross. (John 3:16. Rom. 8:32. Mark 15:34)
Jesus loved me so much that He was willing to lay down His life for me. No one could EVER love me more or better than Jesus. (John 15: 12-14)
In saving me, God has also freed me from slavery to any and all sins. (Romans 6 ;6,7,14)
When I sin, God feels no wrath in his heart against me. (1 Thessalonians 5:9,10) (1 John 2:2)
His heart is filled with nothing but love for me, and He longs for me to repent and confess my sins to Him, so that He might show me the gracious and forgiving love that has been in His heart all along. (1 John 1:9)
God does not require my confession before He desires to forgive me. (Luke 15:20-24)
In His heart He already has forgiven me; and when I come to Him to confess my sins to Him, He runs to me and is repeatedly embracing and dissing me even before I get the words of confession out of my mouth! ((Luke 15:20-24)
I don't deserve any of this, even on my best day; but this is my salvation, and herein I stand. THANK YOU JESUS!"
I can not stress how important it is for us as Christians to be in the gospel every day, transforming and renewing our minds, being encouraged and growing, and learning to understand the truth of the gospel.
"If there is anything we should be passionate about,
it is the gospel...
passionate about thinking on it,
dwelling on it,
rejoicing in it,
allowing it to color the way we look at the world."
